The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) The Criterion Collection

Director: Martin Scorsese

At last, Martin ScorseseΓΓé¼Γäós most personal masterpiece can be seen outside of the controversy it engendered, and be seen for what it is,a fifteen year labor of love. Nikos KazantzakisΓΓé¼Γäós landmark novel comes to breathtaking life in this moving and spiritual film. The all star cast includes Harvey Keitel, Barbara Hershey, Harry Dean Stanton, David Bowie, and Willem Dafoe as Jesus. Criterion is proud to present this cinematic treasure in an exclusive director approved special edition.

Martin Scorsese had wanted to make a film version of Jesus' life since childhood. Scorsese optioned the novel The Last Temptation in the late 1970s, and he gave it to Paul Schrader to adapt. The Last Temptation was originally to be Scorsese's follow up to The King of Comedy; production was slated to begin in 1983 for Paramount, with a budget of about 14 million dollars and shot on location in Israel. The original cast included Aidan Quinn as Jesus, Sting as Pontius Pilate, Ray Davies as Judas Iscariot, and Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene. Management at Paramount and its parent company, Gulf + Western became uneasy due to the ballooning budget for the picture and protest letters received from religious groups. The project went into turnaround and was finally canceled in December 1983. Scorsese went on to make After Hours instead.

In 1986, Universal Pictures became interested in the project. Scorsese offered to shoot the film in 58 days for $7 million, and Universal greenlighted the production. Critic and screenwriter Jay Cocks worked with Scorsese to revise Schrader's script. Aidan Quinn passed on the role of Jesus, and Scorsese recast Willem Dafoe in the part. Sting also passed on the role of Pilate, with the role being recast with David Bowie. Principal photography began in October 1987. The location shoot in Morocco ,a first for Scorsese, was difficult, and the difficulties were compounded by the hurried schedule. We worked in a state of emergency, Scorsese recalled. Scenes had to be improvised and worked out on the set with little deliberation, leading Scorsese to develop a minimalist aesthetic for the film. Shooting wrapped by December 25.
The film opened on August 12, 1988.

When using TPB please read these important notes:

01- Anti-malware apps may warn about keygens, patches, cracks, etc., because of
their capabilities, (generating codes, etc.). Sometimes they're added to
the virus/spyware database and will be detected as malware. If you don't trust
the keygens, patches, cracks, etc., don't use them.

02- Before running .exe-files, keygens, patches, cracks, etc., always check first
if they can be unpacked. Often some third party added a virus to the
original file, repacked it and uploaded it again.

03- Letting anti-malware apps send scan results to their companies can cause
keygens, patches, cracks, etc., to be added to their virus-database.

04- Firewalls which are set to automatically determine connections will allow
apps & malware!. Avoid this by manually configuring your firewall.

05- Usually (new) torrents with many downloads and seeders in a brief period is
suspicious! Torrents with the Skull & Crossbones icon are trusted.

06- Some people use multiple accounts and post fake comments
and/or files trying to spread confusion. They seldom seriously
comment or have any torrents, or a just a few to look passable.

07- Clicking on unknown links can cause malware to be installed on your machine.

08- In general often there are more fake and negative comments than reliable and
positive comments.

09- In some countries uploading/downloading copyright protected material is
forbidden, but showing some appreciation to reliable up-loaders is not.

10- Posting fake and negative comments or fake/infected uploads on TPB can result
in getting banned from TPB!
