Started Impact by Douglas Preston a few hours ago. This guy is always good so I know I will be entertained.
Recently finished several books by Robert Crais. His characters are a couple of don't-mess-with-me-cause-I-will-seriously-stomp-you investigators in, where else, Los Angeles. Taken, his most recent novel, is extremely hard core and brutal. If you like Michael Connelly's stuff, but with even more violence, check Crais out.
And just a note about how I am already missing the top notch book selection from Demonoid. Kickass is good and I am hoping some of the former uploaders from Demonoid show up here with their selections.
