Chagas, the new AIDS in the Americas.
.
Chagas, a tropical disease spread by insects, is causing some fresh concern following an editorial—published earlier this week in a medical journal—that called it "the new AIDS of the Americas."
.
Unlike HIV, Chagas is not a sexually-transmitted disease: it's "caused by parasites transmitted to humans by blood-sucking insects," as the New York Times put it.
.
"It likes to bite you on the face," CNN reported. "It's called the kissing bug. When it ingests your blood, it excretes the parasite at the same time. When you wake up and scratch the itch, the parasite moves into the wound and you're infected."
.
Chagas, also known as American trypanosomiasis, kills about 20,000 people per year, the journal said.

I like how they have all this information about this bug & what it does to the human body, but it just NOW comes out in public record?! I wouldn't be too surprised if a lab doing research somewhere gave it the ability to kill people. Cause that's just the world in which we live.

I wonder how big is that insect'it seems to me that it is too little that it can't be seen by the naked eye'
this blog of yours is very informative which leads me in thinking if we have that insect in our country as well.

There are so many different diseases that can be carried by insects that hopefully a cure for this, and all other insect carried diseases can be made and these innocent people will have hope!
